The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade is responsible for co-ordinating Barbados' relations with foreign governments, as well as regional and international organisations. It seeks to create opportunities for Barbados through the negotiation and monitoring of foreign trade agreements and treaties; and attracting international investment. Senator The Hon. Maxine McClean, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade
Appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade in November 2008, Senator McClean is a graduate of the University of the West Indies - Cave Hill Campus, where she received an Honours Degree in Public Administration; and Ohio University, where she earned an MBA and MA in International Affairs.
Senator McClean is a former lecturer in the Department of Management Studies at University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus and in 1999 established her own management consulting firm. She has been involved in youth training and mentorship programmes, served as a director on a number of corporate boards and provided community service as a trustee and Chair of church and community organizations.
